My work begins with a storyline of something that has grabbed my attention and builds into a series. It is never restricted to any particular gene, rather whatever it takes to complete the vision. As a self-taught fine artist with a love for building, I often begin a piece by applying an under painting shadowing my expectations. Paintings are then leveled and carved until the story emerges and invites me in to discover its mysteries.
I often use mix media in my work, the challenge of mixing materials that might not otherwise be considered companions is perhaps the greatest challenge in my work. Pulling out color, whether the work is in black or white or pure abstract color, I know my work is done when I am called to purchase the piece for myself.
